Introducing my 31DBBB Fellow participants Facebook group

31DBBB Facebook groupI joined the 31 Day Build a Better Blog challenge for two reasons: Improve my blogging experience and expand my network of online friends.

For yesterday’s challenge I created a list of some of my favorite lists posts from fellow participants, to spread some link love. While I was writing, I tried to think of ways to bring this group of publishers closer together. My answer: a Facebook group.

31DBBB Facebook group

The 31DBBB group is (for now) my personal Facebook group for fellow participants to come together to assist each other during and after the challenge. The idea is to create strong bonds, that can be beneficial to us all, even after the 31 day period.

This group is not about exposure to the blogosphere. It’s rather about exposure to the rest of the participants, in order to create longer lasting connections. Individual exposure to the rest of the world should be taken care of by each individual themselves, but the group could assist.

This is a closed group, meaning those who are not invited can sign up, but will need to be approved by someone in charge. For this process we will check the blog of the applicant to verify that there is evidence of participation, or at least some kind of reference to 31DBBB. Since it’s about exposure to each other, what he have to say to one another in this group is important, and not what we have to say to the world. Your being part of this group will be visible to whomever you chose, but the activities won’t.

Join now!

Yes, join this group now, if you’re one of the participants of the 31 Days Build a Better Blog challenge. Think of it: there’s more to gain than to lose.

If you’d rather be invited by me to the group, add me as friend to Facebook, with a reference to 31DBBB, and I’ll send you the invite.

Important note: This group is not (a replacement of) Darren’s proposed community for participants. This is my personal incentive.

Other note: I’m still learning to work Facebook groups, so please bare with me on getting this working properly.

Update: There seems to have been some confusion (???) about this.

    Stretsh,

Good idea. I'm not on Facebook yet. But I do plan to join. It's been on "My List" for a while now.

When I do, I'd like to join your group. Sounds like it could be valuable for all involved.

Meanwhile, are you on Twitter? I'm going to look for you on there, too.

    Thanks for the invite,

    Leo

  • I started following you on twitter right after I read your post.

I look forward to connecting on Facebook. Good luck with #31DBBB and your feature!
  • Hi Rehuel - thanks for inviting me. Unfortunately due to work/security I had to delete my personal facebook profile.

Do you or any of the others have any feedback about whether setting up a facebook profile for my blog persona is a good or bad idea? I'm not sure if it defeats the point..

Another participant in the #31DBBB challenge, Allen, has set up a forum at http://www.eatingoutloud.com/forum if anyone is interested.

I'm also always happy to chat with anyone on twitter @beyondbeeton
  • Yes, I do personally think that you should bring your blog persona to life.Give her an account at the most used social networks, give her an email address, give her a face, even if it's a drawing. But be sure to link her to your blog, so people who "meet" her online, will understand her "story" better.
  • Thanks for the support, I am setting up a profile as we speak! It is at http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1679088674 I'm uploading some pics and will see how I go.

My blog persona is "me" anyway - it is just due to what I and my husband both do for work that I can't have a personal profile for security reasons.
  • Thanks for the invite, Rehuel. I'll add this now to my facebook profile.
Glad you are getting so much out of the course :)
  • Thanks for joining the group Mrs Green.

Please help me spread the word about the group.

    Good luck with 31DBBB.
  • this is a great idea! i sent in a request, it's my personal page (under mononoke). maybe this will get me using facebook more than twitter!
  • Thanks for joining. You may never know what useful features you may discover in facebook.
