Defining a mission statement
As with most affairs in life, it is helpful to know why it’s being done. Everyone has probably heard the question “What is your goal in life?” It’s also common knowledge for starting businesses that having a clear understanding of why the business is being started.
The same goes for blogging. Before you can expect to be successful with your blog, you should first know why you blog. This will help you create the right environment to reach the success you envision.
Why do I blog?
Over the course of time I realized that blogging helps me with a number of thing:
- My writing: Writing down stuff for an international audience is a lot more exhausting than just speaking. The more you write, the more you get used to it.
- My vocabulary: Since English is not my first language, I often need to look up the spelling of words, which means I learn new words every day.
- My work: I write a lot about my web development work. Most of the time I need to research subjects a little deeper, to assure that my knowledge is accurate and I share correct information.
- My network: For promotion of my blog I read and comment in other blogs, frequent social media, etc. The more I interact with people, the more my network grows.
I know of myself that I am a person who likes to share and interact with others. When sharing and interacting, I hope to help others to learn from my experiences. It may be that everyone has gone through the same, or has used the same piece of hardware, or read the same book, but I believe that sharing my experience can be helpful to at least someone!
I also know that I want to be known in the blogosphere and in the world. No, I don’t need to be rich. I don’t want to be the next Donald Trump. I just want to be remembered, positively.
After carefully taking in all these factors, I came to the following statement, when it comes to blogging:
I blog because I want to share my experiences in life with others in order to build an online personality that is appreciated by many who benefited from this information
Trust me, this statement will be shaped during the course of time. But for now, I feel confident that this is why I blog.
